Update on the progress and Death to the Pixies!
We know that there haven´t been much action on the blog lately, but we have some good reasons. On the first day of 2009 we will launch the new HBDY website with a new layout and additional content. There will be more writing about denim and garments in general as well as art of living objects and exorbiant collectibles, and not just HBDY stuff.
In the meantime the store is filled with great denim so you know where to send Santa for gifts!
We have e new post to present to you from our mystery music blogger. This time it´s about the Pixies!
DEATH TO THE PIXIES
This story´s about the Pixies, the great sonic soundarchitects from the mid80´s. I´m just reading the terrific book "Fool the world, the oral history of thepixies". Great reding it is.
The amazing thing with the band is that they where ready as a band straight off, they had the songs! Then, Charles Thompson (now Frank black and formely known as Black Francis) and Joey Santiago got together and wrote some songs, they then put up an adon town wich said "Bassplayer needed, you should like Peter, Paul and Maryand Husker du". The only one ever to respond was Kim Deal who of course got the job.
Kim or Mrs John Muphy as she called herself back then, tells us that thesong that the boys played at the audition was "Here comes your man", this isthough disputed by Joey who says it was "the Holiday song". This really doesn´t matter, the amazing is that any band in band-history would kill for writing one of these song through a whole career and Pixies did them beforethe band was properly formed!!!
The three of them teamed up with drummer David Lovering and played alot in Boston and got big attention through playing and the poster wich showed Charles naked, flipping the bird. The text said "Death to the pixies". The outfit got really good response and got to record 17 songs at the Fort Apache studio. The demo was called "the purple tape" and 8 of the songs was picked out by 4AD, english cultlabel who signed them. The first album is of course "Come on pilgrim", one of my favourite albums in my recordcollection.
The rest of the band´s history is to be read in the book and listening toall of their brilliant albums and after have met 3/4 of the band i must saythat the pixies are the coolest ever!!

Denim Demon
From the Denim Demon AW 2008 collection we picked two jeans, a jacket and a shirt.
The limited Sarves model is of 15,5 oz unsanforized denim with exposed rivets, cinchback and suspender buttons. The colors in the selvage is from the flag of Jämtland - green for the grass and blue for the sky. The donut button is embossed with a pair of reindeer antlers.

The other model is a little more simple slim cut selvage that should be suitable for most people.

We are very found of the raw denim selvage jacket called Plaave with fantastic detailing were you can change the place of the buttons if you like.

Everybody have been asking for denim shirts lately and for thoose we have choosen a nice shirts inspired by the classic denim shirt from Lee and Wrangler.

Click here for the Denim Demin blog where you can follow their latest project where the two reindeer cowboys JanÅke and Per-Henrik have been allotted with a pair of Denim Demons.
